Tour of Duty | TOD | What does it mean? | Why is it Important?

    ****************************************************************************
What is a Tour of Duty (TOD?)

A Tour of Duty (TOD) is a “credit” given for attending a garrison event.

Why do we keep track of TODs?

TODs are a way of keeping track of attendance. Troopers with better attendance will get priority weighting at certain Special Operations events as recognition for their hard work, in cases where there are limited spaces and decisions must be made on who and how many can attend along with Event Requester requests/requirements.

What kind of TOD’s are there?

You can earn Tour of Duty credit both in costume and out-of-costume.

Both are equally important to the functioning of the Garrison.

What is a “costumed” tour of duty?

A 501st/GGG approved event which a member attends in costume. (Non TOD Credit for Lucasfilm, Ltd. / Disney | Fair Day’s Wage Events)

What is a “out-of-costume” tour of duty?

Handler/Dresser – Acting as the “eyes and ears” of the costumed troopers at a 501st/GGG approved event to ensure the safety of others. (Non TOD Credit for Lucasfilm, Ltd. / Disney | Fair Day’s Wage Events)

Combat Photographer/Videographer – Focusing on digital images for our social media sites at an offficial 501st/GGG approved event.

Mentoring – Completion of a Protégée’s costume where a existing members is an assigned. There could be multiple members that are assigned to one Protégé.

Attendance – To an Armor or Prop build party were the event is coordinated through the Garrison’s Event Coordination Team.

Attendance – Garrison meetings, Picnics, etc. When there are sign ups and role is taken.

Hosting – An Armor or Prop build party.

Staffing – Fan table at conventions to recruit new members to Legion

Special Circumstance / Out of Area (OOA) | Tour of Duty (TOD) Credit

    ****************************************************************************

What is a Special Circumstance (SC) / Out of Area (OOA) | TOD Credit?

In some cases a formal event request and Garrison Even Coordination may NOT be part of the equation for a TOD – Credit would in most cases be awarded.

How do I qualify for a SC / OOA TOD credit?

It is requested that a member receive “SC / OOA Troop Clearance” by simply reaching out to Command Staff and advising that they plan to troop an event in advance and are seeking TOD credit. Command Staff will have Event Coordination Staff post the event which will allow other members to join the troop in the case it is a large event such as a Commercial or Fan Convention. (CON)

If there is a concern at the time that the event will NOT qualify then Command Staff will caution the member that a TOD may NOT be awarded.

Anything else that needs to be done?

    Yes!

At a minimum Command Staff would ask that a member(s) write up a simple Mission Report with the details of the event and who attended and in what capacity. (Costumed or Handler/Photographer) This policy is “On Your Honor” for members. If pictures are available please share and make them part of the report.

Do all events that are trooped qualify?

No they may not. In most cases we would like the events to be 501st Legion approved or appropriate.

    ****************************************************************************

Golden Gate Garrison Code of Conductin Effect for ALL trooping:

For the good of the Garrison for the good of the Legion.

    ****************************************************************************

Command Staff reserves the right to change/modify the policy as it relates to TOD Credit with proper transparency and clear communication to members.
