ModeratorOpening Statement:
Hello North Bay Squad troopers and thank you for considering me to serve once again as your squad leader! I was very happy to be nominated in this election cycle and would be proud to serve the squad in this role during the upcoming term.
A bit about myself: I was born, raised, and still live in Napa. Joanna and I have two beautiful children and I love being a daddy. I’m a middle school history teacher and have been teaching for 14 years. I love to read and play the guitar. I can’t dance.
Legion stuff: I joined the legion in 2011, and my first costume was an ANH- TK that Joanna bought for me as the best surprise-present ever. Since then I have added an Imperial Officer, Sith Acolyte, and FO-TK to my resume. I love to hang out with my garrison family and spread Star Wars love to the community during troops.
NBS: I was extremely excited to work with Kyle, Vince, and the other squad leaders to get the four squads up and running last year, and I am proud of the fact that our squad was the first to submit our application and artwork. North Bay leads the way! Over the past year I think the members of squad have grown closer together as a group, we have shared our love of Star Wars at incredible community events, we have welcomed and supported new members, and we have done all this with a sense of humor and respect. My main goals if elected would be to continue to foster and encourage the amazing relationships between our squad members, to continue promoting our events so that no trooper has to troop an event by themselves, and to work with Garrison command in order to advance their message and vision for the garrison.
Thank you all for your consideration.

ModeratorQuestion: “As it pertains to armor/costume build parties, how often do you see them happening and how will you be announcing them to new recruits and Garrison members?”
Armor build parties are something that happen as frequently or infrequently as the members desire. They seem to generate spontaneously from the membership as the need arises and when members volunteer to host them. Some members have great space available to host armor parties and may be willing to do so, other members may not have this space available but are still willing to attend, help, and have fun.
As I become aware of armor parties or the need for them, I will announce them on our Facebook member page and our chat channel. With people interested in joining the Legion but who are not yet members and thus do not have access to our member pages, I would point them in the direction of the Costume Mentor program to help get them started.

ModeratorQuestions:
1- If you become NBS leader, how do you plan to balance your Work, Life and NBS duties ?
2- What plans or ideas do you have for the coming up year ?
.
If I continue as NBS leader I will balance my work, life, and NBS duties much as I have done this past year. Family comes first, as I believe it should for any member. I love spending time with my family and they are my absolute first priority. Work comes second, but I am extremely efficient at my job so I am generally able to accomplish most of my grading and lesson planning during school hours. There are times when I need to take papers home for grading over the weekend, but that is not something I spend hours upon hours of time doing outside of school. During the summer my availability opens up considerably and allows me to spend more time with family and on garrison activities. My NBS leader duties are something I am able to do after school and during the weekends, and I feel I was able to accomplish this successfully during the last term.My NBS goals for this year are as follows:
1) To continue encouraging members to reflect on favorite events and acknowledge each other publicly for their contributions on the Facebook member page. This is something I have been doing each month to help foster the positive community we have built in our squad.
2) To continue working with Command Staff and other Squad Leaders to ensure that the vision of the garrison is being communicated to all members and to help further the goals of the Command Staff. This includes working with the Event Coordinators when there are events that need more trooper support and informing our members of these needs.
3) To arrange a NBS event to see the new Solo: A Star Wars Story movie as a group. I don’t envision an elaborate affair like we have had for the large garrison screenings, but I think it would be great for us to get together to watch the movie.
4) To have a summer and winter social event for squad members, like we did with the dinner in December at Forge restaurant in Napa. I believe it was KY who sparked that event and I thought it was a great idea.
5) To help facilitate merch runs for the squad including hopefully a large NBS patch. This is something I hope that Vince or the new Merchandise Officer would be able to give me guidance with since it would be my first merch run.
6) To encourage members to troop together and to be active members of the squad (by sponsoring their own merch runs, hosting armor parties, or reaching out to their local communities when they see a venue for a possible troop)
7) To reach out to new squad members to help them feel welcome and supported in their first troops. I recently worked with Kyle and the other squad leaders to formulate a clear plan for how new members would be added to the squads and I believe the new procedure will help the new squad leaders be more aware of when new members are added.
8) To troop and spend time with my squad and garrison family.
9) Dance lessons? Or maybe not.

ModeratorGreetings North Bay Squad! I hope everyone’s Monday is progressing as well as Mondays can progress.
Over the weekend I spent a lot of time thinking about our amazing squad, and I have decided to withdraw from this year’s election. I am very proud of what we accomplished in our first year as a squad, and I am excited to see what Dee has in store for us this year. I am confident that she will do a fantastic job as Squad Leader and offer her my full support and my personal congratulations.
