    Hello Team-

This is a very successful year for us with regards to Event Requests. We are receiving multiple requests per weekend. However, this means our numbers are stretched thin at some troops. We need handlers watching our backs now more than ever.

We are launching a new program to help . The “Friends & Family” Program expands our pool of handlers beyond garrison members. However, there are specific rules and guidelines for the program so please read through the details carefully before signing up Uncle Joe for handler duty at your next event.

    “Friends & Family” Handler Program

All handlers must be 18 years of age or older. No children. No exceptions.

Before working as a handler, all new candidates need to complete a simple online course. Members can then sign up a friend/family member with them to an event, and are accountable for their actions. Garrison code of conduct applies to friends/family members. (However, completing this training/being a handler does not make them a GGG/Legion member.)
Handlers will wear an “Imperial Support Staff” shirt. Members will be provided the link for ordering handler shirts immediately after their friend/family member completes training.

    Q&As

Do existing garrison members need to take the online training?

No, but they are welcome and encouraged to do so. We plan on offering a special patch for everyone who shows initiative and takes additional training/helps out with training.

Who gets first priority at a high profile event? A garrison member or a friends/family handler?

Member handlers get first priority at events with limited space. Prioritization is at the discretion of the command staff. The handler role is a serious one, focused on the safety of our garrison members from event start to finish, and the role is not to be used as a “free ride.”

Can incoming troopers be handlers?

Yes. But, we strongly encourage all new/incoming troopers to be routed through our Mentorship program before becoming handlers.

To sign up a friend/family member for the handler training program, please send me the following information:

    Handler Trainee Name
    Contact Information
    Relevant Prior Experience (if any)

    ***FRIENDS AND FAMILY HANDLER PROGRAM***

    [Member Handler / Dresser | Program | Policy – Program Addition @ 05.02.2017]

Currently we have >100 graduates of the Friends and Family Handler Program. Thanks to the fine efforts of Diana Wolf Torres and those collaborating with her to refine and improve the program as a positive impactful initiative for smooth Garrison trooping operations.

The Friends and Family Handler program got it start approximately two and a half year ago when Diana identified the need for handlers throughout The Garrison, primarily for character safety.
From that point both Diana and I collaborated on the program and developed it into what it is today. The program is dynamic and growing with The Garrison as both her and I predicted and hoped it would.

The Program meets the needs of The Garrison in a number of ways.

Diana and I both regarded handlers as one of the most important jobs in the garrison, but we just didn’t have enough of them.

    [Member Handler / Dresser | Program | Policy – Program Addition @ 05.02.2017]

    2. Member is required to be in GOOD standing with The Legion and Garrison.
    3. Compulsory completion of the Handler Training Program.
    4. In the case a Member has sponsored multiple Handlers into the Friends and Family Handler Program, when a Member goes into inactive Handler status, those Handlers sponsored by the Member, go into inactive Hander status, as well.
