The biggest annual hackathon, ‘the NASA Space Apps Challenge program’, formerly run by NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer, is part of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate and is a part of the Open Government Initiative founded under President Barack Obama. It fulfills the United States’ commitments to the Open Government Partnership. Space Apps is managed by the NASA Science Mission Directorate’s Earth Science Division, at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC. It is implemented by Booz Allen Hamilton, Mindgrub, and SecondMuse under contract with NASA in collaboration with other leading Space Agencies across the globe. I am the Local Lead (Main Organizer) of the NASA Space Apps Challenge Mountain View out of NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, California, and NASA Space Apps Challenge Cleveland held at NASA Glenn Research Center. You can find more information for 2023 here:https://www.nasa.gov/learning-resources/stem-engagement-at-nasa/nasa-space-apps-announces-2023-theme-explore-open-science-together/https://www.nasa.gov/general/nasas-global-science-hackathon-attracts-thousands-of-participants/ https://www.nasa.gov/image-article/nasa-hosts-event-past-space-apps-challenge-winners/ https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/news/2023-nasa-space-apps-challenge https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/events/2023/10/7/nasa-international-space-apps-challenge/ Using open data from NASA and our 11 partner Space Agencies, the participants this year tackled 30 challenges and produced 5,556 projects tackling Earth and Space Problems. Attached below is the infographic for 2023. These solutions were utilized within the local community, had a global impact, and were used by Agencies and Companies. We even have a section that allows Industry leaders to ‘create their own challenge’ and give awards and recognition for it, giving their company a team building and problem-solving hands-on experience, and utilizing the local talent contributing fresh perspectives to the way they look at things. There is a big entrepreneurship component where teams are pitching their solutions in front of business angels, founders that are judges, and VC investors, for a potential to found a novel start-up as well. Although it’s only the second year in Mountain View, our event was the biggest SpaceApps event participants and we had notable partners such as Google Cloud, NASA Ames Research Center, and others. In 2022 Cleveland for the first time ever in its existence secured Global Winner, Team Statflock in the category ‘Best use of Data’.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC_yspC7g4ghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQQLN6Cgd-s Past Years: Mountain View 2023: https://www.spaceappschallenge.org/2023/locations/mountain-view-ca/Mountain View 2022: https://2022.spaceappschallenge.org/locations/mountain-view/ Cleveland 2023: https://www.spaceappschallenge.org/2023/locations/cleveland-oh/ Cleveland 2022: https://2022.spaceappschallenge.org/locations/cleveland/

I see that sign-ups are closed for this event, but since you are likely short on characters, add me in as a TK. It looks like the Santa Clara Parade of Champions event may be canceled, so I could this one instead.
